Hoosier Media Group purchased the Francesville Tribune from Steve and Carla Sewell.

The acquisition took place in December.

Kyle Hurd assumed duties as general manager and editor of the newspaper.

Don L. Hurd, founder, chief executive officer and president of Hoosier Media Group, said the Pulaski County publication is a good fit for his group of community newspapers.

Hoosier Media Group also owns The Benton Review, The News & Review (Fowler), Town & Country Shopping Guide and Hoosier Sports Media.

“The Sewell family did a great job covering the Francesville area with the Tribune,” Don Hurd said in a release.

“We see the value and importance of community newspapers and what they mean to the readers they serve,” he said. “We plan to continue our vision of providing the best local newspaper for the Francesville and Pulaski County area.”

The Sewells and Hurd have been acquainted for many years, Steve Sewell said.

“When searching for a buyer, we took foremost into consideration the best fit for our community and the needs of the community,” he said. “We searched for a buyer we knew was community-oriented, had strong ethical values and would be able to be professional yet personal.

“We knew the family and company were the perfect fit to carry on the tradition of ‘The Only Newspaper in the World Interested in the Welfare of Francesville,’” Sewell said.
Hoosier Media Group headquarters is located in Fowler, Indiana.
