Courier-Times Neighbors Editor Donna Cronk has published her first novel, “Sweetland of Liberty Bed & Breakfast.”

Cronk describes the book as a “coming-of-age – middle age – story.”

Plenty of references in the story speak to Cronk’s 30-year career as a journalist, first in Attica and for the past nearly quarter century in New Castle, covering features, editing a quarterly women’s magazine and writing a regular column, among other duties.

The main character is a widow whose kids have moved away and who has lost her job. She returns to her hometown and opens a bed and breakfast. But not everyone is glad she’s back.

The Courier-Times’ nearly 100-year-old clip morgue offered inspiration for the story line.

“Sweetland” is available in print and Kindle from Amazon.
