Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. announced that Robyn McCloskey, publisher of the Kokomo Tribune and the Logansport Pharos-Tribune in Indiana, has been appointed senior vice president.

McCloskey will manage newspapers in Illinois, Iowa and Texas, while maintaining her current publisher role. She will report directly to Steve McPhaul, executive vice president and chief operating officer for CNHI.

McCloskey is a member of the Hoosier State Press Association board of directors, serving as president from 2013-14.

A 24-year veteran of the newspaper industry, McCloskey joined the Pharos-Tribune in 1990 as an advertising telemarketer. In 1995, she became a regional advertising director and in 2001, under CNHI’s ownership, she was named publisher of the Logansport Pharos-Tribune.

McCloskey’s publisher role expanded to include Kokomo in 2008.

Donna Barrett, CNHI president and chief executive officer, said McCloskey was promoted to the position on the basis of her leadership qualities, industry knowledge, success as a publisher and her sense of opportunities for growth.

“She has that great combination of talent and enthusiasm that will enable her to make a significant contribution in the communities we serve in Illinois, Iowa and Texas,” said Barrett.

McCloskey grew up in Indianapolis and has a degree in journalism from Vincennes University.
