Newspapers can access additional materials in the Public Notice Advertising Toolkit created by the HSPA Board of Directors’ Promotional Committee.

The items are all part of HSPA’s efforts to help member newspapers educate the public on the value and importance of public notice advertising in a democratic society.

The new items distributed to publishers this week include another round of ads promoting public notice advertising.

The latest ads were created by the staff of The Times (Munster).

Also distributed were two documents – one speaking to the policy basis for public notice advertising and the second offering tips to publishers on how to best treat the notices as an integral part of their newspapers.

These new items follow an earlier series of promotional ads created by the staff of The Elkhart Truth and a sample editorial concerning the publication of notice of budget hearings.

Future work includes an electronic guide to public notice advertising, created under the supervision of HSPA Executive Director and General Counsel Steve Key.

Pete Van Baalen, publisher of The Elkhart Truth, currently chairs HSPA’s Promotional Committee.

Also serving on the committee are Chris White, publisher of The Times and president of the HSPA Board of Directors; Greg Morris, publisher of the Indianapolis Business Journal; and Beverly Joyce, publisher of The Herald-Bulletin (Anderson).
