Assistant professor of journalism – Franklin College’s Pulliam School of Journalism seeks a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor of journalism to teach journalism students to produce accurate, ethical and compelling stories for radio/television and across multiple media platforms.
The Pulliam School offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in journalism, with specialization tracks in broadcast journalism, news-editorial and public relations. The Pulliam School encourages faculty scholarship and professional development. Franklin College is a 177-year-old liberal arts institution located just south of Indianapolis.
The successful applicant will be dedicated to teaching undergraduate students; will be a lifelong learner willing to adapt and update skills in an ever-changing mass media environment; will appreciate how the liberal arts contribute to successful media studies/careers; will be a team player able to work with colleagues in the journalism school and across disciplines at the college; and will strive for excellence in teaching, scholarship and service.
Responsibilities include teaching radio/television journalism courses and some multimedia course sections. In addition, the successful applicant will serve as the faculty advisor for the campus radio station and a weekly television webcast. Starting date is August 2012.
Applicants must hold a master’s degree or higher in journalism or a related field. College teaching and professional media experience preferred.
