Jeff Schumacher is the new publisher of The Princeton Daily Clarion and Oakland City Journal and chief executive officer of Tri-State Media.

William J. Brehm Jr., president of the company’s parent corporation, Brehm Communications Inc., recently introduced Schumacher to staff.

He comes to Gibson County from Waynesville, North Carolina, where he served as general manager of Mountaineer Publishing Co.

The North Dakota native studied mass communications at North Dakota State University and entered journalism as a sports editor in 1989, later working in advertising sales, then management as a division director of 15 newspapers in North and South Dakota, Nebraska and Montana.

Schumacher has been active as board president of several chambers of commerce and other civic organizations in his career and plans to become involved in the community in Gibson County.

He and his wife, Michelle, have three daughters and a son. Their eldest child is a recent college graduate, and another attends college in North Carolina. The youngest two will attend Gibson County schools.

Schumacher said he’s chosen to spend most of his career in small newspapers and enjoys the opportunity for community involvement.
