After nearly three decades with the Albion New Era, Joy LeCount retired as editor.
Her last day was capped off by an open house at the newspaper office.

LeCount began her journalism career on a part-time basis in 1985 and became editor in 1988.
She had intended to follow in her mother’s footsteps and become a teacher. Instead, she left college and worked at Lincoln National Insurance in Fort Wayne for a time and then spent six years as a lab tech for Monsanto in Ligonier.
LeCount became a stay-at-home mom for her daughter and remained active as a 4-H leader. She is also a past president of Indiana Extension Homemaker’s Association, which at that time had over 40,000 members.
In the 1970s, she ran for a seat on the Noble County Council. She has been either a Noble County commissioner or councilwoman for more than three decades and is routinely the top vote-getter in countywide elections.
She has also been heavily involved with the Albion Rotary Club.
Longtime Publisher Bob Allman, who worked with LeCount for decades, praised her dedication to the newspaper and the community.
