The Evening News (Jeffersonville) and The Tribune (New Albany) have merged into one newspaper, the News and Tribune.
The newspaper retains its two offices in New Albany and Jeffersonville.
“With the consolidation of the two award-winning newspapers, residents of Clark and Floyd counties will continue to receive the same quality local news and information that they have received in the past, but the News and Tribune will also give readers more regional coverage of southern Indiana,” said Bill Hanson, publisher of The Evening News.
“Southern Indiana is a growing regional market, and it is important that we follow the trends established by many of the successful organizations in the area that have taken a more global approach to running their businesses over the past several years,” said Steve Kozarovich, publisher of The Tribune.
The two newspapers have shared a common news website, newsandtribune.com, for several years.
“Combining the two newspapers is compelling for our advertisers as it creates a powerful force in southern Indiana media and provides our customers with more cost-effective marketing opportunities,” Hanson said.
The Evening News and The Tribune, along with their predecessor newspapers, have served Clark and Floyd counties since 1851.
Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. owns both papers.
Employee-owned CNHI operates 86 daily and 46 nondaily paid-circulation newspapers and more than 250 specialty publications in 23 states. The company owns 14 newspapers in Indiana.
