The Society of Professional Journalists encourages newspapers to continue efforts to advocate for a federal shield law.
Congress is considering the Free Flow of Information Act, and SPJ has set up a network to monitor which U.S. senators have heard from their newspaper constituents at www.spj.org/shieldlaw.asp.
The site includes a list of contact information for all senators and tips on talking points to use in a call or email.
SPJ also offers tips on editorials, columns and other coverage to promote the Free Flow of Information Act.
The website provides a way for newspaper professionals to report in after contacting their senators.
