The Herald (Jasper) received a special citation for outstanding public service from the Ball State University Department of Journalism.
The citation was presented “for your long and respected history as a leader in public-service journalism in Indiana” at the department’s annual awards program.
Ball State’s journalism department has awarded a special citation annually since 1968 to an individual or organization. Past recipients have included The Washington Post, Gov. Frank O’Bannon and former White House spokesman Tony Snow.
