From the Palladium-Item (Richmond):

Q: The Franklin County Council and Commissioners plan to have a closed-door “workshop” to discuss the Local Option Income Tax. They apparently believe that calling it a “workshop” and not a meeting exempts them from the Open Door Law. Franklin County is in dire financial straits and needs to cut more than $1 million from its 2014 budget. Has anything changed in the law that would allow such a meeting?

A: Calling a meeting a “workshop” doesn’t exempt it from the Open Door Law.

I suggest you ask them the statutory basis for an executive session to discuss the Local Option Income Tax and/or potential budget cuts.
