Eleven journalism students from Ball State University will operate a news agency at Indiana Black Expo’s Summer Celebration starting July 9.
All content – text, photos and videos – are available for free use by any news organization.
Coverage will start with advance stories available July 3 and continue through the end of the event July 19.
Editors can access the content at http://bsuibe.weebly.com.
Students will cover a variety of topics – Youth Leadership Summit, celebrity basketball games, hair-braiding demonstrations and much more – live from the event.
This immersive learning experience is a full-credit class that gives the students real-world experience in news coverage.
Editors are asked to ensure content creators receive credit.
These advance stories will be posted at http://bsuibe.weebly.com starting July 3:
• History of Indiana Black Expo: timeline (print) and interactive (web). Web will include a Spotify link, where listeners can hear songs from musicians scheduled to perform at Expo this year.
• Impact of Black Expo’s Summer Celebration – cultural, economic, etc. – on community.
• What’s new this year? Music previews, efforts to increase attendance, exhibit of Pulitizer Prize-winning photos taken of Selma to Montgomery march.
• The Ten Point Coalition and its Faith Patrol, an effort to curb youth violence during the event
