The Hoosier State Press Association has worked with Speaker of the House Brian Bosma for several years in an attempt to secure electronic copies of public records via email at no copying costs and fairly address an issue that vexes government officials who must deal with voluminous records requests, which was why HSPA supported H.B. 1523. We appreciate Gov. Holcomb’s desire to avoid added burdens to the public’s ability to access government records so that it can hold public officials accountable as expressed by his veto message. We look forward to working with his office to improve the state’s Open Door Law and Access to Public Records Act in the future.
