Liz Howlett Simerly retired from The Courier-Times after 42 years with the New Castle paper.
Starting in 1971, she worked as a receptionist and proofreader, and then as a longtime, beloved advertising representative.
Before the computer era, Simerly was around when the paper was put together using hot metal and then paste-up.
At a retirement luncheon, co-workers said they will miss her cheerful attitude.
