Arika Herron, a 2011 graduate of Butler University, has joined the Daily Reporter (Greenfield) as a staff writer.
Herron, who earned a degree in journalism, is covering business and economic development; nonprofits; the Hancock County Public Library; and general assignments.
She is from Elkhart.
In college, Herron was editor of the Butler Collegian, the campus newspaper.
She had internships at National Geographic magazine in Washington, D.C., and Indianapolis Monthly.
Herron replaces Derek R. Smith, who now works for an Indianapolis-based Internet firm.
