A group of Indiana newspapers is introducing an online service, Indiana Exchange, to give consumers a convenient place to browse and list classified advertisements from throughout the state.

Indiana Exchange features a user-friendly website that enables shoppers to quickly search local, regional or statewide classified listings.

Indiana Exchange also enables people to easily place classified announcements in all 13 newspapers in the network by visiting the site, www.indianaexchange.com, or by visiting or calling any of the participating newspapers.

Newspapers in the following communities are participating in Indiana Exchange: Anderson, Batesville, Goshen, Greensburg, Hendricks County, Jeffersonville, Kokomo, Lebanon, Logansport, Rushville, Terre Haute, Washington and Zionsville. All are owned by Community Newspaper Holdings Inc. of Montgomery, Ala.

“We have tried to create an experience that can be customized for any user,” said Pete Van Baalen, call center director for Indiana Exchange.

“Some people will want to find items for sale, services available or garage sales just within a few miles of their house. Others will search throughout the state for that precise item they want. Indiana Exchange provides both types of users with the information they need,” Van Baalen said.

The site features easy-to-search information on homes and apartments for sale or rent; community announcements; legal advertisements; as well as merchandise and services available.

It also gives users access to local and national databases of automobiles for sale, as well as employment opportunities through Monster.com jobs networks.
