Immediate opening for versatile, self-motivated community journalist covering Wabash County Illinois and neighboring Gibson County Indiana for sister newspapers, the twice-weekly Mount Carmel Register and five-day Princeton Daily Clarion, both publications of Paxton Media Group. General assignment beats include schools, county and city government, breaking news, people features, economic news and joint projects covering issues of importance and interest to both communities.

We value versatility, crisp writing and excellent communication skills. You'll be part of a team that includes two sports reporters, two general assignment reporters and an editor who also works reporting beats. The right candidate is comfortable with a camera, online writing for breaking news and social media skills. Must have valid driver's license.

The position is hourly pay based on experience/market size with benefits including insurance, 401K and paid time off.

Our newspapers are based in Southeastern Illinois and Southwestern Indiana, two to three hours from Indianapolis, Indiana, Nashville,Tennessee, St. Louis, Missouri or Louisville, Kentucky.
