Kyle Hurd, son of HSPA board of directors president Don Hurd, was released from the hospital last week.

He’s home but still undergoing rehabilitation after he was injured in an apartment fire more than a month ago.

The elder Hurd said his son, a musician, is back to playing guitar to regain finger dexterity.

Kyle Hurd was seriously injured in the Jan. 9 fire in Lafayette. He was taken to a local hospital and then airlifted to Wishard Memorial Hospital’s burn unit in Indianapolis.

He suffered from burns and lung damage, though the lung problems proved to be the more medically challenging concern.
