Description
Who else is going to pay you to eat out and say what you think about the experience? IndyStar, a 2021 Pulitzer Prize-winning news site and part of the USA TODAY Network, is looking for someone with expertise in both food and writing to cover Indianapolis' sizzling restaurant scene.
Applicants should have experience writing engaging, accurate stories and interacting on social media as well as an interest in experimenting with video and other media. Good planning and time management skills -- including the ability to meet frequent deadlines -- are musts. A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation are also required.
We are seeking a reporter who can identify dining trends, break news about openings and closings, and take their audience inside Indianapolis restaurants. Your world will revolve around food and the people who create and serve it -- from diving into restaurant inspections to ranking the best local dives. You'll be driven to serve readers who look to IndyStar for guidance on where to spend their dining dollars.
But that's not enough. IndyStar prides itself on a newsroom culture that is collegial. We hire not only talented journalists but good teammates who support, collaborate and communicate with each other. We look for these traits: intellectual curiosity, a sense of justice/purpose, kindness, passion and compassion.
We are eager to learn more about you and how you fit this role. When you apply, don’t limit your upload to a resume; show us what you’ve done. To do so, put together a single document file that includes your resume, a cover letter that outlines how you would approach the job, and links or pdfs of past work.
