Description
The Indianapolis Star/IndyStar.com, a 2021 Pulitzer Prize winner and part of the USA TODAY NETWORK, has an immediate opening for a local news editor to lead a team of reporters.
This editor will help IndyStar reporters find and write stories that connect with new and existing audiences and serve our Central Indiana communities. The team will likely include the food, arts and entertainment reporters along with other beats that may be determined in part by the successful candidate's expertise and interests.
This position will work with reporters on the front end to develop the right approach for each story – whether that's a short, light approach or deeper enterprise that no one else can deliver.
We want someone with reporting experience, a keen editing eye and sharp news judgment – someone who is a team player and self-directed, passionate and compassionate, someone who finds success in the success of others.
This editor will embrace change and experimentation, learning from failures and pivoting quickly.
IndyStar prides itself on a newsroom culture that is collegial and collaborative. We require not only talented journalists but good teammates who support each other and work well across the newsroom with all our teams.
