The Goshen News is seeking an experienced news editor to oversee print and online content for our newsroom. The news editor will direct a staff of seven fulltime journalists as well as contracted correspondents for our five-day, 7,500 circulation newspaper (no Tuesday or Sunday), specialty publications and website, www.goshennews.com.
• Newswriting experience
• A strong record of covering breaking news
and posting on digital platforms
• The ability to develop enterprise articles
• Experience planning and writing in-depth public service articles
• The ability to inspire reporters and photographers to do their
best work in print and online
This is a hands-on position. The news editor will work afternoon and evening shifts five days per week to prepare the newspaper for publication. Candidates need critical thinking skills, editorial writing ability and competencies in reporting, writing, copy editing, page design, photography, video and social media journalism. We emphasize local news and sports coverage.
Goshen, located in northcentral Indiana, is a vibrant, quality-of-life community and the seat of Elkhart County. It is also the home to Goshen College. The University of Notre Dame is a half-hour drive away in South Bend.
