A charity motorcycle ride this month combines the central Indiana countryside and a bit of history.

A ride benefitting the HSPA Foundation’s scholarship and education efforts will leave Crawfordsville, Indiana, at 1 p.m. Aug. 29 from The Paper of Montgomery County.

The ride ends an hour later in Dana, Indiana, with a free tour of the Ernie Pyle World War II Museum.

The event is open to all bikers. Visit www.HSPAinfo.net/HSPAride to register.

Riders donate $30 per single participate or $50 for couples (on one bike or two).

All participants will be in the running for prizes.

A $100 gift card will go to the person who travels the farthest. A $50 gift card will go to the best bike.

The route will take riders through Rockville and Montezuma to Dana.

Bottled water will be available for riders, and the museum has restrooms available.

A waiver is required for participants. Visit www.HSPAinfo.net/HSPAride to download a waiver and pay the ride fee online prior to Aug. 29.

Proceeds benefit HSPA Foundation, the charitable arm of the Hoosier State Press Association.

The Foundation works to foster public understanding of the role of a free press, to increase public literacy, and to defend the principles of the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution.
