Q: What is the requirement for legal publication of county claims? We used to publish the list of claims to be presented to the commissioners on a monthly basis. It included various departments of the county government and was a fairly lengthy list. In recent years, however, that has been reduced to court claims only.
A: The publication of county claims was eliminated back when the legislature approved the bill to give newspapers a yearly 2.75 percent rate increase on public notices placed by government agencies. The court claims are still required to be published though.
