Q&A: Meeting agenda item listed as ‘other’

From the Kokomo Tribune:

Q: A school board agenda has an item listed as “other.” Can the board conduct personnel business in that category?

A: The Open Door Law doesn’t restrict what can be discussed during an open meeting by using agenda terms such as “other” or “new business.”

A sneaky governing body could try to slip controversial topics through the agenda under such headings, so personnel discussions could fall under “other.”
