Q&A: Midyear meeting-notice request

254

From The Herald Republican (Angola):

Q: When a new public agency is formed, in our case a port authority, do we need to provide it with a request right away to receive notices for the remainder of the year or do we wait until the start of the new year and just hope we get notices the rest of the year?

A: I’d make the request right away. You want to start keeping track of meetings now, not in January, and if they give you any resistance then you’re getting a foreshadowing of what their view is on public access.
