The annual fundraiser will be Thursday, June 9 at Southern Dunes Golf Course in Indianapolis.
The event benefits Foundation programming, including the Eugene S. Pulliam internships, legal defense of the First Amendment, professional development for journalists, Newspaper in Education efforts and public literacy.
“This event traditionally raises enough funding to subsidize one of our major conferences,” said Karen Braeckel, director of the HSPA Foundation. “But it also offers a great outlet for newspaper professionals to network with others in the state.”
Players may submit their own foursomes or sign up individually. The $135 fee covers greens fees, cart, practice range, contest entry and prizes, a reception and dinner. The scramble begins at 1 p.m., but many golfers arrive early to practice or grab a bite at the snack shop.
“If you want to participate but can’t make the event, join a virtual foursome by donating $100,” Braeckel said. “Your total gift goes to the Foundation, and we’ll put your name on the scoreboard.”
The registration deadline is Friday, May 27.
HSPA members and friends received registration brochures by mail. Participants also can register online at HSPAfoundation.org; select “Golf Outing” under the Events tab.
