Publishers, your publications’ U.S. Postal Service Statements of Ownership require your attention.
The documents are necessary to maintain eligibility to carry public notice advertising under Indiana law.
It’s as easy as 1-2-3.
1. Filing
The deadline for filing your Periodicals Class Statement of Ownership, Form 3526, with the Postal Service is Oct. 1.
The information provided on Form 3526 allows the U.S. Postal Service to determine whether the publication meets the standards of Periodicals mailing privileges.
Obtain the necessary form from your local post office or online at http://about.usps.com/forms/periodicals-forms.htm.
2. Publishing
The deadline for publishing the statement in your newspaper depends on your frequency of publication:
• For dailies and newspapers published two or more times a week, the deadline is Oct. 10.
• For weeklies and others, the deadline is Oct. 31.
3. Copying
While you have these forms at hand, please fax or email a copy to HSPA for use in verifying your circulation for HSPA membership eligibility, contest eligibility and HSPA directory information.

The publication requirement applies to all paid-circulation newspapers, regardless of whether you use independent carrier or postal delivery.
