Veteran editor retires to Florida

Wanda Burnett has retired as editor of Ripley Publishing Co. Inc. after nearly three decades of working at the newspaper.

Burnett has been the editor of the Osgood Journal and The Ver­sailles Republican for the past 15 years.

She started in the office 29 years ago.

A South Ripley High School graduate, she and husband Jerry will move to central Florida for health reasons. Her husband is originally from Florida and has landed a job there.

As editor, Burnett wrote numerous human interest stories and covered council, commissioner and school board meetings; local elections; festivals; church events; court news; accidents; and more.

Mary Mattingly, former news director of WRBI Radio, assumed duties of the editor position on May 20.
