From Register Publications:

Q: What is public record in regard to disciplinary records, etc., when a police officer is fired?

A: If an officer is fired, the public has the right to inspect records in the officer’s personnel file that would confirm the level of discipline taken (termination) and documents that relate to the “factual basis” for discipline taken.
