Q: We have a local tobacco outlet that does print advertising and is considering digital advertising on our core website, courierpress.com.
I think I have found that Indiana does not have restrictions on tobacco advertising online, but I am not confident of that. Can you help?
A: Indiana doesn’t have any online advertising restrictions on tobacco products, but the same rules that apply for print would also apply to digital.
If the advertiser is a manufacturer or wholesaler of tobacco products, the ad will need to include the U.S. surgeon general’s warning.
The same goes for advertising that is paid for through a co-op deal with a manufacturer or wholesaler of cigarettes.
