Q&A: Merit board appointment conditions

From cnhi’s Indiana Media Group (Anderson):

Q: We received an ad seeking candidates for a merit board appointment that includes the following: “Must be a registered Republican and have voted the last three elections.” Is this OK to run?

A: Yes. It isn’t an employment ad, so it doesn’t fall under employment discrimination laws. It’s a political appointment to a governing body, so it’s OK to require a political restriction and voting history.
