Q: I know we are allowed to increase our government-set rates for public notice advertising in January.

Do we need to wait until then to change all of the other public notice rates as well?

 A: Public notices not subject to the state-set maximum are rates under your control, so you can raise them in October.

One example of such notices would be sheriff’s sales (mortgage foreclosures) because the responsibility for the publication cost is with the successful purchaser, not the sheriff.
