Octavia Lehman has been named editor of The Advance Leader (Ligonier) and western Noble County reporter for The News Sun (Kendallville).

Lehman is a 2008 graduate of Lakeland High School in LaGrange. She earned a bachelor of arts degree in journalism at Grace College in 2012. She joined KPC Media Group as a reporter in May 2012.

Lehman, 25, replaces Kassie Barroquillo, who has taken a teaching position at Prairie Heights High School. Barroquillo replaced longtime Advance Leader editor Bob Buttgen in July after Buttgen took a desk editor’s position with KPC in its Kendallville office.

Barroquillo will continue working with KPC as a freelance sports reporter and photographer.

“Octavia is an excellent reporter and will do well in her new role,” said Terry G. Housholder, president and publisher of KPC Media Group Inc. “She believes in our philosophy of community journalism.”

She and her fiance, Shawn Yoder, will be married Oct. 18. Following her wedding, her byline will read Octavia Yoder.
