Q&A: Calculating public notice rates

From The Indianapolis Star:

Q: What is a newspaper’s method to calculate the higher frequency rates for publication of public notices?

A: Once you have your rate for a public notice that only has to run once, the progression for additional days are as follows:

• Runs twice: Multiple line rate for a one-day run by 1.5

• Runs three times: Multiple line rate by 2

• Runs four times: Multiple by 2.5.

I think you see the mathematical progression, which would continue as the number of run dates increases to five through eight times.
