Measure adds teeth to access laws

Gov. Mitch Daniels signed House Enacted Act 1003 into law on Monday, March 19, with supporters of teeth for public access laws in attendance.

The new law allows judges to impose civil fines of up to $100 ($500 for repeat offenders) on public officials who deliberately violate the Open Door Law or Access to Public Records Act.
