The HSPA Foundation’s Get Out the Vote print advertising campaign continues through Election Day.

Publishers and ad directors can visit www.HSPAfoundation.org/voteads to download a series of quarter-page ads and a half-page ad encouraging readers to register, vote and talk to their friends about doing the same.

The downloads will take several minutes.

Ads encouraging readers to vote will be available in October.

The first set of ads encouraging registering should run until the Oct. 9 voter registration deadline.

The second set will carry the same state website information – www.indianavoters.com – for finding one’s polling place.

Those ads can run through Nov. 6.

The HSPA Foundation became interested in an ad campaign encouraging voting after last year’s Indiana Civic Health Index showed Hoosiers ranked 48th in voter turnout in 2010.

Studies show newspaper readers vote. A Pew Research Center study in 2008 found that of those surveyed in Indiana who got their news daily from newspapers, 80 percent voted.

So the tagline in the ads – “Pass it on” – encourages newspapers readers to persuade their family and friends to get involved in the democratic process and vote.
