The Hoosier State Press Association announces a mobile app for The Indiana Publisher, available for iPhone and iPad users.
To download the app, visit the App Store on your mobile device and search for “Indiana Publisher.”
HSPA distributes The Publisher, featuring newspaper industry news and information, on alternate Thursdays in print and e-edition formats. HSPA members and others can now more easily access the information on their phones and tablets.
An app for Android platforms will be released later.
The association uses The Publisher as a tool for getting information to members, especially busy newspaper executives, said Steve Key, HSPA executive director and general counsel.
“A mobile app that publishers, general managers, ad directors and others can access on the go benefits our membership,” Key said. “They will find the new app a quick supplement to the print or desktop version of The Publisher.”
HSPA partnered with mobile-app developer Rumble to develop the app. Rumble, based in Philadelphia, entered the mobile app market in November 2012 with the Philadelphia Daily News’ app. To date the company has produced more than 50 apps.
“Rumble personnel addressed our questions and made it clear they are on board for the long haul,” Key said.
HSPA and Rumble teamed up through the tech company’s “Ready to Rumble” initiative, offering a custom-designed mobile app with no startup charge. The Corydon Democrat, an HSPA member newspaper, also developed an app for its paper with Rumble’s program.
Rumble designs apps with publishers specifically in mind, said Uyen Tieu, co-founder and chief revenue officer of Rumble.
“At Rumble we really believe in bridging the mobile gap for publishers by providing a smart and highly scalable infrastructure,” Tieu said. “We are pleased to be extending our pilot program to HSPA, enabling them to give their readers a fast and beautiful app with excellent and actionable analytics.”
