Photog marks 50-year career

Larry Tebo retired from news photography for The Elkhart Truth after more than 50 years of service.

He started in the dispatch department at The Truth in May 1963. In 1964 he went to work at the Mishawaka Times as a photographer and in 1965 did a short stint in the Indiana National Guard.

He became a full-time Truth photographer in 1966.

All but about two of those years Tebo was a night photographer working second shift.

According to The Truth, Tebo has probably taken more photos of Elkhart County people than anyone in his decades of carrying around a heavy camera bag.

He’s photographed Notre Dame games and more high school sports events than editors can count. In addition to covering fires and accident scenes, he’s taken countless snapshots of life in Elkhart County.
