Journalism students launch site

Indiana Wesleyan University journalism students have launched a new digital platform to report on breaking news and community events.

Grant COnnected is designed to give students reporting experience while offering Grant County residents another source for news.

The student staff members cover news for the website as part of a journalism class.

The website – – features a variety of stories, videos, audio recordings and photos.

The class focuses on providing real-world news writing, photography and multimedia experiences for students while they are still in school, said Randall King, professor of communication and director of broadcast media at Indiana Wesleyan.

Part of that experience is a rotating schedule of working in the newsroom, listening to the police scanner and covering breaking news if necessary.
